How long and when will the tour depart?
From April to September, the hotel pickup time is between 8 to 830pm, depending on visibility (e.g. moonrise). The exact time is to be confirmed in the early afternoon.
Our drivers will take you from your hotel to our exclusive viewing area within the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Depending on weather conditions, we’ll stay at the national park for about 90 minutes and the total duration of the tour is up to 2.5 hours.
How close would we be away from Uluru?
We have selected an ideal viewing location within the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. With good weather conditions, which happen most of the time, we will have a spectacular view of stars above and Uluru in the backdrop.
What’s your COVID safety plan?
The health and safety of our guests is our priority. Since tours would be conducted outdoor, the risk of COVID transmission is relatively low. However, we will closely monitor the latest NT Health guidelines and advice.
At the Yulara Medical Centre, there is often the possibility for rapid COVID testing such that test result would be available in a couple of hours. We encourage our guests to take a COVID test, if they feel unwell or display any of the COVID-19 symptoms as identified by NT Health. We can provide a refund if guests can’t attend our tour due to COVID.
How many guests in a tour?
Normally our tours are limited to a maximum of 30 individuals per tour. However, during school holidays we anticipate a higher number of guests participating in the tour. To ensure an enhanced experience for all visitors, we will allocate additional staff members on-site to maximize the quality of the tour..
Can children attend?
Yes. The tour is designed for an adult audience, especially because some children are afraid of being in the dark. However, children age 6 and above are very welcome. We do want to inspire our future astronomers!
What telescope would we use?
We have a 9.25 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, binoculars and laser pointers…
Would there be any toilet onsite?
There is a restroom facility available for visitors' convenience at the sunset view area in the national park.
Can we take photos during the tour?
Yes, there will be plenty of opportunities to take photos at our viewing site. We have tripods, iPhone 12 and a Nikon DSLR camera and can assist you in taking cool photos. However, please resist using flash photography, as strong white light would interference with our night vision.
What if the weather is less than ideal?
Uluru is blessed with clear sky most of the year. In the off chance that there is significant cloud cover, we do have the options for rescheduling or refund.
What do I need to bring to the tour?
Comfortable shoes that enclose your feet.
Warm clothes, as the temperature can drop a lot at night.
Your curiosity. No prior knowledge is needed.
